Glassman Tools for Tolerance for Educational Professionals
Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center offers a number of unique programs for Canadian educators. These programs are open to all professionals involved within the world of education. Past participants have included university professors, deans, superintendents, board trustees, principals and teachers. We encourage all individuals who are involved with education to take part in the Tools for Tolerance® Program. To learn more about Tools Alumni experiences visit The Alumni Corner.

For all trips, participants must be available to travel to Los Angeles the day prior to the course date listed. FSWC will arrange all flights and hotel accommodations. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply before the deadline. The curriculum is designed for educators from middle school and up.

Unique Opportunity for School Boards:
We encourage our involved Tools Alumni to reach out to their colleagues and invite them to develop a program with FSWC for their school board in Los Angeles. The school board program will be modeled after the Educational Leadership for Inclusive Schools. If the participants do not live within the Greater Toronto Area, an FSWC representative may present the workshop to the group. Funding for travel and hotel (if necessary) will be the responsibility of the group. Contact Tools for Tolerance for details.

What is the cost?
The cost is approximately $1500. All arrangements for workshops, air travel and accommodation will be made through FSWC at FSWC rates. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions

How to create your customized school board’s workshop?
Begin by completing the Request and Information Form: School Boards. If accepted, the applicant will be contacted to discuss trip options. We welcome your requests for participation and look forward to discussing opportunities for your group to attend Tools for Tolerance®.

If the group is accepted then each individual member will need to fill out an individual application form and Letter of Reference Form which will be reviewed. The applicant will be accepted under the discretion of FSWC.

Educational Leadership for Inclusive Schools
This two-day instructional program is designed for school leadership teams comprised of formal and informal leaders. The vertical teams (comprised of 3 – 6 participants) will include teachers, principals, superintendents, trustees, and other key people and will cover a whole school approach for integrating cultural proficiency into their respective practices. In an interactive format, participants will:
  • Gain tools for assessing one's own behavior and values, and for analyzing classroom and school policies and practices;
  • Explore a model of standards for addressing identified reforms at the schools; and
  • Learn personal strategies for coping with resistance to change that arises from issues related to diversity.
Whenever possible the workshop sessions will be facilitated by Randall B. Lindsey, co-author of three books and a forthcoming video on Cultural Proficiency, and other experienced consultants.

Upon conclusion of the course, participants will receive a certificate of completion.
