Toronto (July 9, 2018) - Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) is concerned over an announcement that a group of Hasidic Jews in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Quebec are being forced by a Superior Court injunction to leave their residence for allegedly using the residence as a place of worship.

Mayor Denis Chalifoux claimed the group is violating local bylaws and holding loud gatherings that disturb neighbours.

“In cases like this, a thorough investigation must be made into the complaints to ensure antisemitism has not played a role in seeking the residence to be vacated,” said FSWC president and CEO Avi Benlolo.
