FSWC Investigating the Selling of Nazi Memorabilia in the GTA

August 10, 2017

Media Release

TORONTO (August 10, 2017) - Canadian Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies (FSWC) was disappointed today to observe a vendor at an antique market in the GTA selling Nazi memorabilia. FSWC staff visited the location, photographed and had conversation with employees and customers.  One customer shamelessly said, “My husband admired Hitler and thought he was a great leader.”

The approximately $5,000 collection includes a deck of cards printed with swastikas, stamps featuring Hitler, a 1942 Der Schulungsbrief - the Nazi Party's monthly magazine for political education, Hitler Youth pins, letterhead belonging to the General Governor of Krakow, identification cards of German workers, a Nazi flag, among many other items.  FSWC has lodged complaints with the owner of the market, the mayor of the city and with local police.
