TORONTO (June 16, 2017) – Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) has released a petition that calls on the leaders of Ontario to prohibit Al Quds Day – which is scheduled for June 24 – from taking place at Queen’s Park.
“We call on our leaders to stop antisemitism and hate and to ensure the safety and security of the Jewish community from incitement to violence,” the petition states.
Each year the Iranian-backed, state-sponsored event claims to promote solidarity with Palestinians – when in reality it calls for the destruction of Israel and violence against Jewish people.
As mentioned in the petition, previous speakers at Al Quds Day events have called for Israelis to be shot and showed support for terrorism and violence.
